Custom Invite URLs for Irony Servers. edit
Many irony servers that are not affiliated with any subreddits have been known to use many methods of gaining active members onto their server, one of the most known methods is using Custom URL invites, this method has been used by servers ever since it's addition onto discord. Custom URLs have gotten even easier to get due to discord lowering the needed number of boosts to gain the final level which grants the ability to add a custom URL for your server. Servers such as I.C.U or Irony Hub have been using this method to gain members ever since their existence, (or in I.C.U's case, ever since The Rapture.) Irony servers usually choose their custom invite URL to be something meme culture related, or something which is overly obscene. An example for this can be the Dogelore server, before the gg/sus custom URL invite change. The server had it's invite set to gg/cum. This invite is now used by a somewhat related irony server called Cum Palace, known to have a few dramas with the Federal Troll Agency in the past.
DogeLore's new URL edit
After a somewhat long period of Dogelore having it's custom URL as gg/cum, bringing a somewhat handful portion of users, a few of which became active on the server the staff decided that due to a recent increase of Among Us memes, featuring the Sus meme the new invite URL would become discord.gg/sus. This new custom invite brought tons of new users onto the server, inevitabely this caused tons of havoc amongst the already chaotic community of DogeLore, thanks to all of the new members that were totally unaffiliated with the r/DogeLore subreddit most of the things related to DogeLore completely dissapeared within just a few months, this custom URL also made many of the already active members of the community move to the more secure and somewhat elitist channel, #casual. With general becoming more of a place where all of the newbies would have conversations.
Drama edit
With the r/DogeLore server becoming an absolute giant when it came to the number of members that were joining the server, it felt somewhat different to the active userbase, thanks to that there was tons of discrimination towards the newer users and an alienation between the staff and active members, many petitions were made to change the URL to something else, there was a slight chance of the URL being actually changed to gg/Doge but unfortunately, an unrelated youtuber by the name of Critiquing Doge had already taken it, and all attempts at them giving the invite over failed. The petitions regarding a change to the URL got sent so many times that the staff fully disabled the #petitions channel, never bringing it back afterwards.
Users hated the URL mostly because of the annoying and rulebreaking members, ignoring the otherwise quality members which came with this URL change, and the server hitting huge numbers when it came to it's popularity.
The Problem Now edit
As time went on the issue with the URL had been somewhat forgotten, many users who had problems with the URL have already left the community, instead joining Josemon's server, or any other small friend server, the members who still remained have largely learned to live with this change, as in most cases the benefits outweighted the downsides.
