Alan Drama
The Alan Drama describes an event in which the infamous administrator, Alan, was accused of plotting to nuke the server, for which he was demoted and then banned.
Initial Drama[edit | edit source]
On the 5th of May 2021, Alan, a widely known administrator of Whenthe, was accused of planning to nuke the server. His plan included releasing all angels from their banishment in the #heaven channel, pinging @everyone, and leaking the entirety of modchat to the public. He was demoted and then banned from the community[1]. This created much unrest in the server as many had trusted Alan. The drama also painted the Thou Art server in an even worse light than before, and Alan's involvement and ownership of Thou Art also resulted in him being connected to a history of user doxxing. The general channel was in chaos for a few days after Alan's demotion, as nobody expected an extremely well respected member of the community to be banished in mere minutes. Alan's ban was met with harsh criticism with many questioning if such a punishment was even fair, as Alan had never openly doxxed anyone and it was only Thou Art's users who did such acts. Alongside Alan, another user, syND_II, was also banned for doxxing in the punishment log. Two staff members resigned from their positions a few days after the drama.
Pastor's Announcement[edit | edit source]
In order to calm things down, The Pastor released a long statement regarding Alan's demotion and ban. This explained many things to the masses and pacified the server's outrage.[2]
So, this is going to be another one of those sleepless nights. I know it, and so, I am going to explain this without breaking my laptop.
Alan has been charged with plotting to nuke the server, leaking chats, and a history of revealing private information about others in a, while in private, still a menacing way. We have a few people who came forwards with this who we will not name as to not threaten them (but if what we recently found out is true, I fear for them.)
Screenshots and accounts were damning. We can't go into depth for the sake of a few people, but please don't take this as "we have nothing lololol". That's slander to get you upset and enraged and throw temper tantrums. If you cannot respect the privacy of a few people, then I don't really think you have respect for any formal system. We wouldn't have acted like this if we didn't feel it was necessary. For fuck's sake, I didn't even realize this was happening to this extent until, shit, maybe 2 weeks ago? Alan is a great guy, and I didn't want it to come to this, but there was no other option. And when we gave him a chance to admit it, he played dumb and pretended to not know what we were talking about. So we banned him. It is not like we didn't give him any chance to defend himself. I wasn't even present for when the team PD'd him initially, I didn't even want to do this shit today, but it happened, and I'm sticking by the facts that I saw, and the accounts that I heard, and by my damn staff team, and I don't care if that makes you upset.
I'm not going to appeal to bad actors anymore. You have had your chances. I don't care if you leave. Do it. I don't care. I really, really, REALLY though this shit was going to be different. Because when we pushed for Alan to get admin, I had a lot of faith. But this shit is making me question why we let you spread false narratives for the sole purpose of supporting your friends. I trust my team. We stick by this decision.

Alan would not be unbanned from the server or appeal until next year, returning to the server on the 3rd of March 2022, when his appeal finally passed staff voting.
