The '''BIG FUCKING DISCORD SERVER LOL''' was created by The (known as Hypnuclear at the time) on May 24, 2018 at 5:16 PM EST. Minutes later, its name was changed to '''BIG FUCKING SERVER LOL''' due to the name not completely fitting on the sidebar. The sent the server's first message in #announcements, setting its goal of having the most members of any Discord server ever. His best friend, [[Jacobomb]], was invited to be the first person to join that same day.

The Big Server is a server owned by The. First created on May 24, 2018, its original purpose was to become the biggest Discord server ever, but this goal was left behind after its first server was nuked in June 2019.

Despite its owner not even knowing what an irony server was until 2021, it eventually became close to servers such as Irony Circus and Funny Jungle, which it partnered with, and later Awesome Planet to a small extent, shifting its culture and leading it to be considered by a few to be some kind of irony server.

History[edit | edit source]

First server[edit | edit source]

The BIG FUCKING DISCORD SERVER LOL was created by The (known as Hypnuclear at the time) on May 24, 2018 at 5:16 PM EST. Minutes later, its name was changed to BIG FUCKING SERVER LOL due to the name not completely fitting on the sidebar. The sent the server's first message in #announcements, setting its goal of having the most members of any Discord server ever. His best friend, Jacobomb, was invited to be the first person to join that same day.

In its first five months, the server was very inactive, only gaining a few dozen members during that time. The server began to have a breakthrough in late October 2018, reaching 100 members the following month and nearing 300 by the end of the year.

The Big Server reached 1,000 members in late May 2018, just after its 1 year anniversary. After this milestone, member growth began to slow down.

On June 20, 2019, one of the server's active users, Nai, was reported to have committed suicide. An admin named GamingEchoBlox mistakenly believed her reason for suicide was due to drama on the server, and so he began nuking the server with a few other staff members and some regular users several hours later. Since over 400 members and most of the server's channels had been lost, The decided to open a new TBS, which soon became known as TBS REBORN.

Despite this, the server technically remained open while shedding 400 more of its users, many of whom moved over to the new server. This was until June 22, 2021, when every old channel was locked and the only thing a non-TBS2 member could see was an invite to the new server.

Second server[edit | edit source]

The second TBS, named S2 at its creation, was created by The on June 20, 2019 at 8:35 PM EST, a little less than an hour before the first server was nuked. At the time, The was fed up with the server's slow growth in recent weeks, contemplating on starting a new server (which he ended up doing anyway). An hour and a half after the nuke was over, The opened up the server to the public. By the end of June 2019, the server already had well over 300 members and seemed like it would return to its predecessor's glory. However, growth slowed down dramatically in July, only gaining 47 members that entire month.

On August 12, 2019 (August 11 in the Americas), The gave up ownership of the server to Jacobomb in order to focus his time on the upcoming school year. But The, who was now the server's Co-Owner, would remain almost as active on the server as before his resignation, while Jacob's activity never stayed quite consistent.

In May 2020, The, who was still more active than Jacob, began requesting ownership of The Big Server be returned to him. Eventually, Jacob accepted this request, giving ownership back to The on May 30, 2020 while Jacob became the Co-Owner again. From this month until August 2020, The began inflating the servers member count with a bot that gives others points for joining servers, in turn letting them buy invites for their own servers. This continued until the server had a little over 800 members before The gave up on it, causing it to quickly drop into the 700s.

In all but two months from August 2020 through October 2022, The Big Server's member count declined, almost dropping below 500 before the admin Trollbuscus began inviting everyone he could. This also led to many bot accounts joining the server, which actually caused it to grow consistently, but slowly, from November 2022 through May 2023.

Since The became more active in OkBuddyRetard 5 and Awesome Planet than his own server, the server's activity has been at its lowest since its earliest days, although it was already seen as beyond recovery before that point.
