4chan[1] is the anonymous imageboard created in 2003 by Christopher Poole[2], who is also known as Moot.
The website would have a notable impact on irony culture and its formation, with the advent of Rage Comics and the popularization of other memes such as the Wojak and Pepe the Frog.
Several sites would adopt things created from 4chan, with Reddit in particular inheriting the meme culture of 4chan.
The site is mostly irrelevant now. There are some connections between 4chan and irony users but it is mostly a "boogeyman" or a joke to be played around with. The website has not contributed to irony or any meme culture in a long time, and pretty much now only operates as a porn site.
4chan also has a notable discord presence, with several public communities that are able to be found on Disboard[3] or on the /soc/ - Cams and Meetups[4] board on 4chan. One 4chan server in particular that is related to irony is Freezer. (Authors note - I would personally advise to have discernment when checking out any server you find. Some people are just people you do not want to be around.)
