Subreddit History[edit | edit source]

Origins[edit | edit source]

The subreddit would be created on January 22th, 2019 by user u/Dandere-Muffin. Based off the already existing concept of the ComedyCemetery subreddit, but instead for overly bloated clusterfuck memes.

1,000 Member Competition[edit | edit source]

On January 2019 the moderator u/HahaFunnyMeme_ would release an announcement, in celebration of the subreddit surpassing 1,000 members the subreddit would be giving an award to the best post (in opinion of the mod team.) The moderators still didn't decide if to give one platinum award to one user, or if to give three users one gold award each, voting would happen in the comments regarding this. There was a few rules regarding the whole post "competition", it had to follow reddit guidelines, specific subreddit rules, must have been posted after the announcement, and no reposts. The winner would be announced a week later. It was decided that instead of a platinum award, three winners would receive the gold award.

OC Rule[edit | edit source]

On October 20th, 2019 moderator u/AristotleOfGrease would announce a new rule, starting immediately post the announcements release, all posts originating from /r/ComedyHitmen, /r/ComedyNecrophilia but also /r/OkBuddyRetard were banned, and all attempts at crossposting them would get the post removed and the user banned for continous attempts. This was to encourage more OC and diverse content on the subreddit.

/R/ComedyGiraffe[edit | edit source]

On April 15th, 2020 a new sister subreddit for /r/ComedySeizure was announced by the mod team known as /r/ComedyGiraffe. It's purpose was for exceedingly long memes. The subreddit wouldn't see much fame besides hitting around 2.5 thousand users.

Here we post long memes, and if you don't know what that is, don't worry, I'll explain it.

Basically, a long meme is a meme which has a greater length than its width. In short, it is tall, quite like the neck of a giraffe, and that's where the subreddit name comes from.

Hope you enjoy your time!

The Introductory Pinned Message

"What is a Comedy Seizure to You?"[edit | edit source]

FAT NIGGAS GOT DICKZ

On January 28th, 2021 a comment competition would be announced by the mod team of the subreddit, "What is a comedy seizure to you?" The most upvoted description within the comments of the announcement would become the description of the subreddit. User u/orang-man was the winner, with his definition of "When there so much going on that it takes a minute or two to consciously recognize everything, if at all." becoming the official description of the subreddit.
