The idea for WOID came to be in the [[Irony Hub]] mod chat sometime around June 2021, where it slowly evolved. A preview video of the server, titled "WOID RESORT (2021)" was uploaded by [[kring]] on July 3, 2021.

The server was officially opened on July 5, 2021 under the domain '''play.whendogesillyti.me'''. [[Seiya]] released a trailer for the server at the same time, however it has since become unavailable.
During its life, Dogelore ended up splitting from WOID, making a fourth season of [[DogeCraft]]. It also remained online during the deletions of Irony Hub and OkBR4. The server was shut down for the final time on May 18, 2022, after months of severe inactivity.

There were several types of plushies like the cheems, cool doge, big chungus and swag the cat plushies, plushies were custom heads with a fancy coloured name, they had a somewhat working economy too.

The WOID PvP tournament was announced on July 12th, 2021 and was hosted four days later. It was also the first and only event on WOID ever, players would have to find a partner and fight together against another team in a 2v2 on a clash royale styled arena. (7th arena.)
the rewards included 3500$ in diamonds ingame, 3 plushies of their choice, a custom trophy and a vanity on the discord server.
The sixth, and final fight was won by Void and 4IZZ.
