It was created on June 7, 2020, a few months after Josemon first joined [[dogelore]]. Several of dogelore's members decided to move away from the server and become active in Josecord, usually due to being banned or due to staff bias. Over the years, the server has grown into moderately large community with a mix between dogelore users and others, creating a unique type of humor.

The server used to be called "'''''XXX'' Cats In a Tuxedo'''", with ''XXX'' being a randomly changing number, though this was later changed to just "CATS IN A TUXEDO".
