The '''BIG FUCKING DISCORD SERVER LOL''' was created by The (known as Hypnuclear at the time) on May 24, 2018 at 5:16 PM EST. Minutes later, its name was changed to '''BIG FUCKING SERVER LOL''' due to the name not completely fitting on the sidebar. The sent the server's first message in #announcements, setting its goal of having the most members of any Discord server ever. His best friend, [[Jacobomb]], was invited to be the first person to join that same day.

In its first five months, the server was very inactive, only gaining a few dozen members during that time. The server began to have a breakthrough in late October 2018, reaching 100 members the following month and nearing 300 by the end of the year.

The Big Server reached 1,000 members in late May 2018, just after its 1 year anniversary. After this milestone, member growth began to slow down.

On June 20, 2019, one of the server's active users, Nai, was reported to have committed suicide. An admin named GamingEchoBlox mistakenly believed her reason for suicide was due to drama on the server, and so he began nuking the server with a few other staff members and some regular users several hours later. Since over 400 members and most of the server's channels had been lost, The decided to open a new TBS, which soon became known as '''TBS REBORN'''.

Despite this, the server technically remained open while shedding 400 more of its users, many of whom moved over to the new server. This was until June 22, 2021, when every old channel was locked and the only thing a non-TBS2 member could see was an invite to the new server.
