The discord server was originally founded in December 2018 as the second generation of the [[OkBuddyRetard]] server ('''OkBR2'''). It was rebranded a year later as the official Discord for the r/whenthe, a {{w|subreddit}} about GIF caption memes. The server is no longer in a mutual partnership with the r/Whenthe subreddit, though the staff has expressed that if enough user wish for the partnership to be brought back, a consideration may happen. As stated before though, the discord and subreddit isn't very close in character and many members of the Discord actually hate the subreddit. As of April 11th 2023, the subreddit and discord officially split up due to how little the discord and subreddit were connected. The server continues to be quite active, and the subreddit has seen enormous growth recently, reaching 500,000+ members as of September 17th, 2023.

== Subreddit History ==
After the initial end of the partnership between the discord server and r/[[OkBuddyRetard]] the server didn't have a lot of growth, in order to fuel the membercount of Whenthe, (then still Funny Omega) the mods would first create r/RageBased, a rage comic themed meme subreddit. This subreddit concept would not prosper and the subreddit itself would decline into obscurity, a few days later the mods would request r/whenthe. On the 25th of March 2020 [[Prod]] would release a statement detailing the opening of the r/whenthe subreddit. Dedicated to funny meme captions, it would slowly grow until seeing a massive explosion in popularity around late 2021, a popular subreddit youtuber known as Emkay would release a video about r/whenthe. With some still remembering what had happened to r/[[OkBuddyRetard]] it prompted a lot of worry within both the discord and subreddit communities, the subreddit mods would private r/whenthe for a few days to stop many new users from joining the subreddit and "ruining it", as of now the subreddit has gained a spectacular half a million members. It was also one of the many subreddits which joined the API protest in solidarity. Emkay's terrible video is shown below. Much later on the subreddit and discord would split off from each other.

In December 2018, the token for Ohtred, [[Uhtred]]'s bot, was leaked. This allowed a malicious user to log in as the bot, and as the bot had very high permissions, they caused catastrophic damage in all the servers the bot was in, and ultimately a nuke in [[OKBR1]]. The bot token was leaked by accident when Uhtred accidentally uploaded it to the bot's {{w|GitHub}} repository without realizing it. The person who hijacked the bot is unknown, nor is their motive. When the bot was nuking OKBR1, there wasn't any staff online with a rank high enough to stop it. The bot would delete messages and channels and ban people. Before banning a user, it would DM them "OWNED BY OWNAGEBOT." By the time someone could stop the bot, the server was in shambles. And so, on December 30, 2018, [[lunar]] made OKBR2. OKBR1 remained a remnant of what it once was; it was later deleted. The OkBR2 server is the same server as Whenthe. It has already went through about three renditions in it's four year old history, The OkBR2 era, The Funny Omega era, and The Whenthe era. With the server considerably being at it's lowest during the Funny Omega era, and rising back to the top during the Whenthe era.

Sillyfun also once admitted to getting a boner because in his dream he paid Goomba (a tranny from the irony hub) 25$ to have a “giga giantess growth” as apart of his macrophilia fetish.
